Sicily is the largest of the Mediterranean Islands, a magnificent mosaic of archaeological sites, rugged mountains, and sunlit shores and boasts Europe’s highest active volcano, the impressive Mt.Etna. Excitement is guaranteed around this beautiful area tailor made for exploration by bike. There’s the lunar landscapes of the volcano, fantastic ridge rides and single track forest trails all within easy reach of our accommodation; 4 nights in Randazzo at a converted farmhouse and 3 in a small comfortable hotel Giardini Naxos.
The rich panorama of the Sicilian countryside where age old traditions of shepherding and farming live on, alongside some of the ancient worlds most famous sites is awe inspiring. Savage areas such as the Peloritani Mountain and Nebrodi Park offer fantastic mountain biking whilst the Alcantara Gorges and summit crater of Mt Etna offer challenging hikes if you’ve any energy left! Then, of course, there are the quiet beaches, great food and local wine to round of a perfect day in the saddle!

Day 1
Arrive Catania.

Day 2
A first taste of Mt Etna as we ride along the edge of the lava flow with its steep rolling terrain. Round off the day at a local wine growers cooperative!

Day 3
Biking in Parco dei Nebrodi with spectacular scenery, high ridge rides, forest trails past silent lakes-amazing!

Day 4
A real highlight as we bike the Piste Altomontana track circumnavigating Mt Etna.

Day 5
Bike down the Ionian Sea and explore (optional hike) the Alcantara Gorge. Overnight at Giardini Naxos where the Greeks founded their first colony in Sicily.

Day 6
A bike ride up Toarmina, Sicily’s most beautiful medieval city perched high above the sea. Plenty of time to relax and explore.

A full day on the Peloritini Mt., which has some of Sicily’s highest trails meandering through small villages and vineyards. Awesome scenery all around! Day 8 Dept Sicily.
