argentina

Northwest Argentina has some of Latin America’s best mountain biking. Our trip is based in the provinces of Salta and Jujuy, lying alongside the highest Andean peaks. There’s a wealth of superb scenery from the outstanding Andes to the sub-tropical jungle and fertile valley’s of the region, and, of course, some amazing biking. Boasting a great climate, its provincial hospitality and rich cultural inheritance make Salta and Jujuy well worth a visit. With many unforgettable highlights not the least of which is the famous ‘Train to the Clouds’ to the dizzy height of 3775m and the awesome Humahuaca Ravine, we will have a great perspective of this unique landscape and its peoples.

This trip includes transportation, multi-lingual guides etc. We have a variety of half board accommodation from Lodges, comfortable Hotels and Inns. The trip takes place in the Argentinean Autumn; perfect weather!

Day 1 On our morning arrival at Buenos Aires we have time to relax and sightsee before our flight to Salta Province.

Day 2
Onto the bikes for a leg stretch around Salta – nothing too strenuous but the ride up Cerro San Bernado is better than the cable car option!

Day 3
Its dirt road time as we head from Abra to Finca La Cruz and visit the historical sight where local hero Martin Guemes died during the Argentinean freedom process against colonial Spain. 40 km of continuous fun!

Day 4
We take the support vehicle to Piedra del Molino at 3348m above sea level. Then its time to get on the bikes and descend one of the most beautiful and lonely dirt roads you’ll ever experience, El Camino de Los Colorados, to Cachi.

Day 5
From Cachi we ride to get an awesome view of the Andes second highest peak, El Nevado de Cachi-all 6200 m of it! Then its down again for 27 km to Seclantas.

Day 6
Technical biking at its best as we tackle tough climbs and incredible downhill’s at Brealito Lagoon and its red, dry mountains. Again, up to 48km of great biking-do the bits you fancy and catch a lift on those that you don’t!

Day 7
On to Molinos, an old 17th century town, and a rolling ride over the Calchaqui Valley for 35km.

Day 8
The Arrows ‘road’ has to be one of strangest places on the planet! Likened to a Luna landscape it is simply incredible to bike through. We end the day at the world famous wine cellars of Cafayate after a great 40km.
