New Zealand is the world’s greatest outdoor playground - a fantastic landscape of mountains and glaciers, tropical forests, stunning beaches, thermal geysers, volcanoes and unique wildlife, all packed into two islands the size of Britain.

It’s no accident that Kiwis are the kings of extreme sports! Whale watching, swimming with dolphins, glacier walking, jet-boating, bungy jumping, white-water rafting, black-water rafting (in caves!) - our 3 week holiday will offer opportunities to include as many of these as possible - and that’s without the fantastic biking!

Are you up for down-under?

Our trip has been based around some of the best mountain biking NZ has to offer and an experience to cherish. Here’s just a taste of what you can expect to be included in the programme: coastal cliff-top tracks, inland mountain tracks, gnarly single track, scenic fireroads, dedicated mountain bike parks...plus a remote two-day wilderness trek. You could even adapt your plans to include extra time exploring Australia, or a stop off in the Far East or Polynesia. However you spend your time, we’re confident that it really will be the holiday of a lifetime.

An unforgettable mountain bike trip down-under! As with all our long-haul adventures, we’ll try to cram a lifetime of experiences into a few weeks and leave you with lifelong memories of some awesome biking as well as a unique perspective of the country.

Sunday Feb 22nd
Fly into Auckland, and immediately transfer to Rotorua for a couple of days biking, sight seeing and recovering from jet lag. North Island biking at its best with a good helping of Maori culture and the chance to visit great locations like the Waimangu volcanic valley. Amazing forest trails –everything from double track logging roads to great singletracks (all natural) and even a World Cup DH run! We stay just outside Rotorua by the lakeside for 3 nights.

Wed Feb 25th
Early to rise!
A long drive down to Wellington. Ride the Makara Peak singletracks in the afternoon. Staying in a great guesthouse with plenty of neat cafes’/bistro’s close by.

Thursday 26th
Makara Peak Bike Park again-there’s lot’s there-or up to Belmont Park with spectacular views of the South Island. Overnight again in ‘windy’ Wellington.

Friday 27th to Sun March 1
Sail to the South Island and head to The Portage on the Queen Charlotte Sound for 3 nights. This is a spectacular venue. The Sound ride is in 3 stages; we do the last bit first, the middle section on Saturday and finally the first section from Ship Cove after arriving there by water taxi from Torea Bay. The reason for this is that bikes are not permitted before March 1st-so we are amongst the first few on it. It’s quite beautiful -all singletrack through native forest.

Monday March 2
A short drive down to Kaikora giving time for some local biking, chilling out with the dolphins and whales, and, of course, a winery!

Tuesday/Wednesday March 3/4
Drive to Hamner Spring’s for some great back country biking. Chill out at the Spring’s after a hard day in the saddle. Lots of forest singletracks also for those with extra energy!

Thurs/Fri March 5/6
We drive to Aurther’s Pass smack in the middle of the Southern Alp’s and stay at a remote hamlet. Biking here is spectacular-Craigieburn and the Wharfdale singletrack rides are superb!

Saturday March 7
Heading southwest over the Alp’s to Fox Glacier. Great sightseeing here- we could even take a light plane over the Tasman Glacier and Mt Cook?

Sunday March 8
From Fox it’s a short hop to Makaroa for a night. There’s a little known sweet singletrack here!

Monday to Thursday March 9-12
It’s off the World’s premier outdoor playground-Queenstown!
Lots of options for riding at all levels, plus as much bungying, jet boating, rafting, parapenting, hang-gliding and parachuting as you can handle.
The fantastic Moonlight Trail, Moke Lake and awesome Skippers Canyon rides are the absolute best Queenstown has to offer. Plus why not try some truly awesome Heli-biking on the famous ‘Remarkables’.

Friday March 13
Fly out of Queenstown, and head north at 40000 ft enjoying day-night-day (or something like that!) – then spend the rest of your life dreaming of what was!
