You'll be guaranteed a warm welcome on all our trips from our friendly and knowledgeable guides. We offer a choice of centre based holidays and 'one off ' trips to suit anyone looking for an exciting challenge.
We're sure you'll want to spend a little time browsing through the pages of this brochure to see what's right for you, but, in brief, here's the low down on what's good, where!
Nidri is without doubt one of Europe's premier biking centres and is a great 'all-round' resort with a fantastic nightlife. Switzerland's Alpine trails have an appeal to aspiring and experienced mountain bikers seeking gravity action, as do Sicily's trails, which are dominated by the volcanic Mt.Etna. Tuscany offers amazingly unspoilt biking to suit even the hard-core element! With arguably with the world's best cross-country single-tracks, the Canadian Rockies are more suited to aspiring or experienced bikers.
Portugal offers great cross-country biking for everyone, as well as an excuse to escape the British winter!
Our more relaxed 'Viking Trail' to Europe's Northern outposts of Iceland/the Faroe's/Shetland Isles is a mixture of off-road and back-road biking in spectacular surroundings, or just come to Iceland and be amazed at the landscape!
If you are planning a bike trip to Latin America, New Zealand or South Africa it makes good sense to join us on one of our holidays. We take on the hassle of planning, while you can relax knowing that your trip will include the best aspects of each country.
In Scotland we have some of the best biking imaginable and offer a year's worth of trip's, as well as weekend and short break rides in the North of England to suit all abilities.
Additionally, we can offer 'tailor-made' holidays based on any of our trips for groups of 4 people or more.
All our holidays have a flexible riding programme, offering a choice of alternative routes determined as much by enthusiasm as by ability or fitness. Our style is relaxed, rather than an enforced regime, ensuring a fantastic holiday experience. Any queries? Then simply e-mail or telephone us and talk to someone who has been on every trip!
Absolutely everyone is welcome whether single, a couple or a family, as long as riders are at least fourteen. Our holidays are suitable for all kinds of active outdoor people so meeting like-minded sorts from all walks of life is unavoidable! Roughly a third of our guests are couples-the rest are a 50/50 slit between solo females and males.
The most often asked question is "how fit do I need to be?" Well, as long as you know you can comfortably ride a mountain bike there should be no problem; all rides are graded and flexible to suit you. And remember, it's a holiday, not a training camp. Nevertheless, spending a little time biking prior to your holiday will obviously be beneficial. If you are still unsure why not come along on one of our weekend rides and ask us first hand which centre we think would suit you best?
Our guides are probably the best you will find anywhere. All are mountain bikers, mechanically adept and keen to pass on helpful hints, tips and local knowledge to ensure you have a great holiday. They can take the time to show you different standards of route so there is no pressure on you to cycle at an unhealthy pace; take your time and enjoy! Vehicle support is there for your safety, is unobtrusive and carries everything you need for a great day out. Also, if you don't fancy a particular stretch of the ride, simply opt to hitch a lift, either up or down.
Our regular team has a wealth of experience running mountain bike holidays all over the world. In Latin America we have the added experience of multi-lingual local guides/mechanics with an equally broad knowledge of local wildlife and culture.
These obviously vary according to daily conditions and the enthusiasm of the group.
In terms of miles covered, many appear to be short rides but terrain and altitude, plus the nature of off-road mountain tracks can mean that 20+ miles is often enough! We are out most days from between 10 am and 4 pm in all but Costa Rica, where activities tend to start earlier. Taking into account the individual needs of the group, picnic and lunch stops plus those all-important photo opportunities, time flies by. We promise you will know you have ridden a mountain bike!
To be sure of a place on you chosen trip, you should make a booking as soon as possible, ideally at least six months in advance. Early season booking is helpful to us, especially on long-haul holidays as there are often local permits and accommodations as well as international and internal flights which have to be confirmed in good time.
